I agree with you, it's the first SD guy I find with this type of cap on...

Indeed a nice photo, and I certainly don’t want to spoil the party…but this could in theory also have been a W-SS officer assigned to a foreign legion…? Some officers did actually wear the blank collar tab in accordance to the rules for the men. Furthermore the enlisted grade wool and fieldstyle tunic he’s wearing could indicate that as well. The shoulderboards would perhaps have helped in identifying, or a SS membership-badge below the left pocket but of course impossible to see on this photo.

In anyway a good image none the less!
