    K98 Police or Civil issue?

    Good day gentlemen

I recently acquired this bayonet which is totally unmarked (except underneath the grips). And it appears that the blade was never blued but the scabbard is. I have been advised that it may be civil issue.

Firstly, is it correct that it is civil issue?

Secondly, is there any way of telling to which organisation it might have been issued.

    The bayonet is discussed here
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=463171

I hope this is in the right forum as my question is more about the organisations that this might have been used by rather than the bayonet it's self.

    Many thanks

Your commercial S84/98 bayonet is not an identifiable police bayonet. Those made early for the police will have a police inspection mark on the back of the spine of the blade consisting of a star/letter or eagle/letter. So, your bayonet could have gone to any one of a number of organizations or foreign countries. It could also have been privately purchased by a soldier but it is not a military or police item of issue.
