    DRB Lantern 1940 dated

    Hi,

I've got a 1940 dated German Reichsbahn lantern which I know little about. It stands about 10 inches tall and the 4 clear glass panels (original I think) are about 4½ inches by 6½ inches. There is no burner inside although I was told that the light was generated by a candle. I would be interested to find out more about this lantern - it's use etc.

Any information would be gratefully received.

    Thanks
    Taff

        Lantern

        Taff,
I haven't seen one with this manufacture, but I have one that is identical. Mine is unfinished medal aluminum/tin which I believe yours would have been. Also the original glass is frosted, and inside there should be a candle holder socket riveted to the bottom (you should be able to see the holes in yours) Mine is Luftwaffe eagle stamped and dated. All this being said I think yours is great and I would be proud to have it in my collection. I love the Nurnberg and 1940 date on yours. Anyway hope this helps. Tim

Very nice, never seen one of these before that was not Luftwaffe marked. There are a few differences though, namely the wind shield at the top and the handle.
