I agree, This is one of the "hoard" eagles that was introduced into the market a few years ago. I forget the number but these were recovered in tied, unused bundles. They have become quite common now in the market, but there is no reason to doubt their authenticity.

I would suggest however that it is a civil gendarmerie post 1941 eagle rather than an army FG eagle because it is embroidered on a police green rather than a field gray wool.
