This looks like a Rural Police crash helmet but at some point the bottom has been painted white and the visor has been cut off. I have seen white Traffic Police Crash helmets but I have no ideal why it's half and half.

A mutt! No, I have no idea other than a guess of postwar utilization or some other modification for unknown reason. Hello David Angolia vol.2 shows the same label on page 261 and 304. One of my other books shows the same one. It is two bad the visor got cut off but I picked it up cheap. I will get a nice one someday. KirbyComment

Apparently an adjustable size liner. But I agree with you Dave, this was modified post-WWII for some city's traffic police. Similar modifications to WWII headgear are shown in Radecke's book.Comment
