    A basic D.R.G.M. question

I would like to ask this question in this forum because of the recent chats on Assmann D.R.G.M. marked pieces.

If this mark relates to a specific design, then it's a strange situation with the DRA/DRL sports badges.

The DRA, i.e. first form badge is marked "D.R.G.M. 35269", but here's the rub, so are the later DRL complete with swaz. models marked with the exact same "D.R.G.M. 35269".

I have seen the same mark on 3 different makers, so it definately has something to do with the badge and not a specific makers piece per se.

How can they have the same design allocation number, when they look so different?

Essentially they are the same award, only from different eras, but they do look completely different, so is it possible that DRGM means something else in relation to a piece other than the design aspect?

Also what's the difference between this mark and "ges geschutz" if it is related to design?

Hopefully someone will know a bit about it.

    All the best.

    Hello Colin.
I recall reading about this subject some time back and this is my recollection:
D.R.G.M. (Deutsches ReichsGebrauchsMuster) was a nationally established protection system to prevent unauthorised manufacturing of badges and other items which were designed by certain individuals or companies. The identical D.R.G.M. number showing on different badges but only diverting through addition of the Swastica you describe may have been simply a continuation with the same number for a badge which was considered only a modification.
Perhaps another reader may further clarify and /or elaborate on the above.

This old thread I find of interest, Resurected from the grave it is!
I wonder if any member can now elaborate on the above posts?
Also??? Can any member tell me how many makers there were of these DRL badges and name them please? Also different pin types used on the different grades?
I have searched DRL on this forum, and as of yet read back to posts from 2002 with no Maker list found yet.
Can a member answer this for me Please?

To start the list off, the maker of my Bronze DRL is:
        Wernstein Jena
also found these makers in my travels:
        Petz & Lorenz U-Reichenbach Witeg
        L. LHR Lauer
Do any members have a different maker they can add?
        Kev

These are very good looking badges and would make for an interesting collection by maker mark!
