I managed to get an answer from the seller after he ended the auction early and he said he will relist the auction again, after sendin the group for valuation. My guess is he will send it to Detlev for a COA and then relist it with a more proper description. If he is telling the truth and didnt sell it for a fixed price to someone that is.

So maybe we will have our chance again

Graham, did he also say why he terminated the auction two days early, and also over one hour earlier than the last stated bid closing time of 11/17/09 at 9:31 AM o clock... presumably Central European Time which he had earlier used??
You are right the last posted bid was 810,00 Euro... a fraction of its value....but he didn't stay for the whole show, which probably cost him a lot of money. I think his greed and some smooth talker cost him probably half the value of his grouping..or more.

        Don,

I didn't get the info from the seller, I took it from the description on the auction itself.

Graham, have you dealt with this auction firm before? I had not and I found it was a rather trying process to even get registred to bid, as they required a scan of either one's passport or personal ID.
This in itself I found somewhat presumptous on their part....especially since their contract seemed to leave them free enough to do pretty much what they wish on their part.
Frankly, I have no intention on bidding on the grouping if it does become available again, either on this auction or any other.

I do browse the site regularly but I have actually purchased less than half a dozen items.

The problem I have is that most sellers do not accept paypal which is my preferred method as it is quicker. Instead, they either want cash or wire transfer and these both cause problems for me. Cash, I don't like sending and I work so bloody much, I cannot get time to visit my bank!!

I agree. Wire transfers are costly and an inconvenience. The only time I will use them is if a rare item is available. I can understand an overseas buyer requiring a bank wire transfer but this is the first time I have ever been asked for a scan of my passpport to even bid on an item.

After complying with that request, I am really hacked off at the non-business-like manner in which the auction was handled. ...and terminated. I am through with both the seller and the auction site.
