    TeNo Honour Badge - 1923

    Hello Everyone...

This really isnt my thing but a friend of mine offered this one to me and I just want to know if its any good. I have done a little bit of searching the forum and as far as I can tell its a good one. The enamel on this one is perfect...no blemishes at all. He wants a pretty penny but it really is quite nice...

    Opinions are always welcome...

    Regards,
    Chris G.

This is 100% original in my view. I have several in my archive that you can compare this one to.

            TeNo Badge

Very nice original. Value $500 from a private sale, dealers would probably ask more.

Nice 1922 TeNo Honor Badge by William Fühner

Yes, I agree with Craig & Stan! (Also Check Craig's Foto-Archives to see some outstanding Cased TeNo HB Examples.)

You have a very nice 1922 TeNo Ehrenzeichen (Honor Badge) by William Fühner, in the more 'desirable' Goldene finish construction, characteristic of this maker.

The 'other' known maker of the 1922 HB is Karl Hensler (also located in Pforzheim!) - but his badges have a rather dark finish instead, often with wear points exposing the Goldene underneath. (Then, there are the 'Unknown / Non Maker Marked' examples - but I don't know "IF" examples have been seen for all 5 years?)

There is a limited collector's market for the 5 years of the TeNo Ehrenzeichen (and we're informed that only about 5,500 were issued - so there is also a limited potential supply of surviving HB's.)

IMO, the 1922 William Fühner (as you've shown) TeNo HB's should command a slightly higher price, as they are more attractive & there appear to be fewer of them, than the 1922 Karl Hensler HB's. As Stan said, $500 USD would be a real deal! A more likely 'buy' price is $650-$750+ (without a Case.) European sites are even more expensive, usually - up to $1,200 USD (uncased!)

Here is a 1922 Karl Hensler TeNo Ehrenzeichen (Honor Badge) - FRONT.
Note the coloration difference = Significantly Darker!.
Still is a great Badge! Wonderful Design & it has ALL of the super details of this Badge.

                1922 Karl Hensler TeNo Ehrenzeichen-Comparison 2

Same 1922 Karl Hensler TeNo Ehrenzeichen (Honor Badge) - REVERSE.

                Note the very dark coloration.
Also, the reverse of the Karl Hensler TN Enamel Badge center - is a Silvered color!

This is a distinctive difference & leads one to surmise (IMO) that the maker of the Center TN Enamel insert - was a different one, from that used by William Fühner (which has a Gold Colored Center on the Reverse & Gold colored 'Ring' attachment.)

                  1922 Karl Hensler TeNo Ehrenzeichen-Comparison 3

Again, Same 1922 Karl Hensler TeNo Ehrenzeichen (Honor Badge) - CLOSE UP..

Note the details of the TN Enamel Badge center.
Also, the 'Ring' holding the TN Enamel Badge center - is also Silvered - & it often seems a bit thinner (to my eyes! Some day I'll get around to actually measuring them!)

Outstanding posts, dblmed! I learned a lot from them. I agree with Stan on the pricing. I usually ask $795 for the uncased ones, and $1200 to $1500 for the cased ones, especially if the sticker on the bottom of the case matches the badge number.

Wish I had a friend offering me one, I agree with the consensus that the one posted is good.

I will some day own one myself, most certainly on my short list.
