Police Sport Shirt and Sleeve Eagles

Just want to make sure these Police items are alright before I put them on the e-stand.

A used sports shirt that came from another collector's estate and these three sleeve eagles.

    Thanks, Chuck

            Hello,

I have made it a policy to not comment on eagles that I feel may be reproductions publicly, and in any case my opinion is of marginal value, however; I will express it none the less in this case as these are to be for sale.

I think the sports shirt is probably OK. Are there any stamps on the lower shirt seam. That seems to be typical for these.

The officer's eagle looks mint and brand new. This pattern is the one most copied by the Pakistanis so I feel a bit uncomfortable about it. There were crested head original eagles, but they were not common. It could be authentic, but condition suggests it is a recent production to me. That white/green felt backing is common on repros.

I do NOT like the three feather eagle. The backing material is supposed to go with what? It is NOT police green, it is not summer mottled cotton, it seems way off as far as color goes. There were NO gray police tunics. This is an attempt to copy a well known pattern and I think it is the work of the "famous" reproducer that has produced many of the "good" reproductions currently tainting the market.

The last eagle is also of a widely copied pattern. It, however; is the one of the three sleeve eagles that I feel has the best chance of being original.

            Regards,
            William Unland

Like Bill said, the sports shirt does look OK but check the bottom seem for an ink stamp. Stamps usually consist of a date and generally some other alpha information, perhaps a manufacturer name in some cases. Unfortunately, I am unable to locate any images here offhand to link of other examples and markings, just loose insignia.

I don't like that three feather on gray either. It just doesn't fit into what we know as correct period police insignia. Ugly bird head too, looks like he has a bad mullet! It maybe the photo, although I just can't get a good read on that bullion example to say either way with certainty. But it does look well done and then I stare at it too long and start some little details bother me. The orange appears to stand a good chance at being good but like Bill said, a copied pattern.
