POLIZEI cuffband

I think that it was worn on the sleeve of an overcoat by plain- cloth policemen or Kripo or Beamte if they were called up to help out with crowd cotrol at parades or rallies as to ID them as POLIZEI doing their official duty

I very much doubt the cuffband was used in this capacity. It is far too small and elaborate in construction for this purpose.

To be identified in a crowd, a larger band worn further up the arm would be best suited, and there are periods photos of plain clothed police officers wearing these "standard" size armbands. One only has to look at the majority of polizei/SS/Wehrmacht helper armbands to see the "standard" size. I have yet to see a picture of a plain clothed officer wearing a smaller cuffband.
