Hi Frank

The badge is for members of the Reichskolonialbund. It was a group that kept colonial traditions going in Germany.

This is not a police pin, per se but I guess could have been worn as one.
As I said they were worn by the Reichskolonialbund.

Keith, it could not have been worn as a "police pin". By that statement, you are writing that it was a pin recognized by the police as equivalent to the traditions badge awarded to several police units? The pin was a membership badge of the Reichskolonialbund as you wrote. If a policeman was a member of the RKB, then he could wear his membership pin off duty, but certainly not on his state uniform.

Any association of this pin with the Traditions Badge of the German Police is incorrect.

Thank you Keith fo that informative link. I can see where this might be confused for the shield that Bill posted but I would think a collectors guild sight would do a little better than that.

It is a sight I often use to find information and historical background on different items. I guess they missed this one pretty good.

So then would this Reichskolonialbund pin be considered a vets pin or just another obscure German bund membership pin.

I just bought two of them on the estand for a lot less than the $90 listed on the collector guild link. If they do not fit in my poloice or vets collection I can sell them to recoup.

Frank you are welcome. I have a police grouping and the man was a member of the Reichskolonialbund and have his membership card.


Joe I did not mean to say this was the same as wearing the traditions badge on the sleeve of the uniform. I stated in my previous posts it was a membership pin for the bund.
