    Hand sewn eagle

Greetings: Is this a police eagle? If so is it original and who would have worn it. Thank you to those who have the knowledge to share to help identify this eagle. It is much appreciated
    Regards

Yes, this embroidered insignia example is in the form of that worn by the police on the sleeve. The use of bullion indicates an officer grade.

To start with, what color is the embroidery...was it all silver and some is now oxidized? That breast and wing detail appears bright silver compared with the rest, interesting. Would you have a photo of the reverse to post? Thanks.

This eagle is a reproduction, every detail on this bullion eagle is NOT correct, its a good try, but not quite there.

I would have to agree with the above statement, bad eagle, dont like the backing material also. Backing material looks very clean for an eagle that has been oxidized, seems like a very fluffy material also, this is a usual indicator of a reproduction. Do a UV light test on the eagle, I bet this one glows.

            Hello,

I have never seen an eagle quite like this. It is supposed to be an officer's eagle for the white summer tunic. It is executed in real silver bullion that has been oxidized, I suspect artificially, with non silver detail thread.

Unfortunately, as Gary points out this is not authentic period production. Many details are not consistant with originals.

I am surprised that a forger would use silver "purl" bullion though. It is rather expensive. Usually the Pakistanis use cheap non-silver wires which do not oxidize. Consequently I am thinking European production on this one.

Luckily these guys are still not paying enough attention to design as execution on this one is not really that bad.The "fuzzy" felt is not correct in my opinion. It may in fact be polyester/wool felt.

It certainly is unusual, although I'd not go so far as to say every detail is not correct. This one could still cause problems for some and there is no perfect/uniform construction pattern of hand embroidered police insignia. I would still like to see the reverse to see how far this one has been taken in construction and not if or not it was made to be removable. In regard to the bullion color it does look more and more like a strong oxidation job on the bullion, although odd (no?) about the backing remaining so sterile.

Greetings : Thank you for all replies and comments. I do not own this eagle and the pictures I posted are the only ones for now. I will try to get a reverse photo for you Gary to assist your decision. I believe it was all silver, but I will check that also. I appreciate the expertise and time shared by all in order to help a collector in learning.
                All the best.
