In the serial range in the 4,000s, the disk would be of the desirable nickel silver, but 10k is way over priced in my opinion.

    8 grand would be tops.

Collectibles have no ‘hard and fast’ value.
They’re worth what someone will pay.
Mine is in the #4000 range.
I paid a little over $6200 for it and had the wonderful Mr. Bible (my hero) look at it to confirm it was good.
He said it was a very nice one and thought that if it were for sale on the open market that it would go for about $8500 as an opening asking price.
That was about 2 years ago.

      For $10K, whoa, I don’t know.
I hope it comes with a cup of java and a jelly doughnut, at the very least!!

Like I said I have been told a few sold prices and the 6k range was the highest I found.

I would still like to know what stand alone disc actually sold for 10k (or even near that). It must be a really big secret.

I know of one that may sell that high tomorrow.

          Hi Tim,
For me to pay 10k for one it would have to come with at least 3 Krugerrands.

I agree with all the above.

Anything between $6500 - 8500 is a reasonable price to pay.

Although discs have sold for more, $10k is overpriced.

              J.M.C.,
I am looking forward to our getting to see this expensive warrant disc.
Is your guy going to let you post it for review??

                Hi Tim,
He is hundreds of miles away from me. He just reached out to me because he wanted to know what they actually sell for.

He was told by the dealer in PA that 10k was what an "expert" had told him the disc could sell for. I did a little digging for him and found none that had even come near that (including one that was less than half that). So I posted the question here.

In the end he is a big boy and will make the final decision on his own.

At least you have given him all the relevant advice and as you say, the rest is up to him.

I'll bet the dealer is already rubbing his hands together.

Several factors enter into the value of a Gestapo disc...like the highly unlikely event of being able to absolutely identify the owner of a Gestapo disc without finding the ID card...a near impossibility...but it has happened to me.

I once sold such a disc for more than $10,000...and would pay more than that, to be able to buy it back...and it was a high number disc in the FIVE DIGIT range. I won't disclose the number, but I doubt the owner will ever sell it in his lifetime.

This isn't the only example known to me, of a Gestapo disc selling for more than $10,000. I know of a few more.

Sometimes the value of a Gestapo disc is also boosted by what other pieces were brought back with it by a veteran, with absolute proof of the connection.

Consider the value of a Gestapo disc captured with a Walther PPK with a listed known number of a Gestapo issued gun...with only a few hundred such numbers known.

                      Hi Graham,
He is going to the shop on Friday or Saturday now. I armed with confirmed sales numbers that I found for him (none were 10k or even near 8k).

He is a bit of a haggler so let’s see how he does.

He bought the disc yesterday for 6k. He told the dealer that he was way high when compared to other discs that had actually sold recently. The dealer had the disc for sale for a few months and had become amazingly flexible with time and some cold hard cash.

I guess the expert’s “up to 10k” estimate was more of a “I wish they were worth that much” dream.
