I think this is because Hermann Historica can get better prices than the feeble US market.

For those interested, this disc sold yesterday in Munich for 7700 Euro--about $10, 260 at current exchange rates.

It was #7674, a non-magnetic, disc, in nice condition.

..... and that was just the hammer price! It does not include the 23% fee, or extra 2.9% if paying by credit card. The total price is somewhere around the $12,500 - $13,000 mark!!!!! I don't believe this is a true reflection of the market price but more a case of if a few people are bidding on the day and they really want it, it can go for any price.

The thing is, when Detlev sells one underpriced nobody lowers the price of their discs for sale to match it, but lets see how many people try and raise the price to match this one!

Also, take a look at the price the Kripo disc went for!

This is the third Gestapo disc I have seen sell for more than $10,000. The first two were in private sales between individuals. One of those was a disc I brought back from Germany which I sold for much less, only months before. In my opinion it was in better condition and a much lower number than either of the others. I guess they just bring what someone is willing to pay.

Thanks for the update. That's a heck of a price to pay...makes it tough for the working stiff to collect this sort of stuff. Doesn't that make it appear there is room for someone to profit on the estand listed example??? I bet it's getting some looks now after those auction results.

That auction results are very important - especially at this time!
Some (parts of) private collections will soon be delivered to Hermann Historica, I believe.

The market is still strong and very hungry - good to know!
