    Shoulder strap help

    Hello all,

These straps came in as part of a grouping out of the woodwork last weekend. I'm only familiar with the commonly encountered flavors of Polizei straps (Gendarmerie, Schutzpolizei, etc..). Did the Police use dark brown as a piping during WW2 or are these a different organization completely (or worse, post-war [shouldn't be as this group has been in a family's hands since the war]).

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Bob,

The police did not utilize a brown piping and these lower ranking police straps lacked the branch denoting color backing/base material. Although there are some of these lower rank straps out there with brach denoting piping. Hope that helps. By the way, did you score any other police insignia?

Just found a past thread where I posted some of these type of rank straps, see post #5.

Thanks a bunch Dave, the link was really helpful!! I didn't realize their lower EM ranks were identified this way

Sorry, but no other Polizei insignia in the group. Just a mint 44-dated Schutzpolizei HBT tunic and Gendarmerie Meister's rain coat.

My intention is to bring them to the SOS as I only collect Wehrmacht uniforms.

      Thanks again!!
