This is from the "Thiele & Steinart" hoard, and is the only bullion Post cockade I have ever seen (incorrectly labelled as Postschutz):

Thanks to everyone for sharing these photos. I often wonder how much of a hard time it was for the allies to sort people out as they advanced through Germany when everyine from the Hitler down to the local dog catcher was in some sort of military style uniform.....
Then again, it probably wasn't as much of a problem in the east...

Stonemint,
An interesting cap. FYI, I have a standard C.Wagner Bahnschutz NCO cap that came back with a vet that has this same Postschutz wreath and eagle on it. I left it the way it was and assumed that the two insignia were close enough that perhaps the Bahnschutz guy used what was available and close enough for government work.

Hi stonemint,
cockade (post #61) is labelled 'Postmütze' (not 'Postschutz')!
GreatT INFO about German Postal Workers is in magazine 'Archiv für deutsche Postgeschichte', no. 2/1987 (author Dieter Deuster). It is 'out-of-date' a bit, but still great article with many b/w drawings of ranks, collar patches, badges etc.Last edited by lbsr; 03-23-2011, 02:39 PM.
