    Luft feldgendarmerie gorget opinions please.

    Gyday all
Just got this amongst a large collection of militaria I just bought. Not knowing alot about these I thought I'd put it to the panel for some opinions. Any help appreciated.

In the previous photo the eagle does not look very detailed, but it is in real life. Can see the feathers and eye very well and it has a hooked beak. {if that means anything?} If any more photos needed let me know.

I don't like what I see in these photos. Is the gorget itself magnetic? Is the eagle coated with radium based paint that glows in the dark? The backing, to me, is the wrong color and fabric and the support hooks are too wide.

Nothing is magnetic on it, and when I took it into a dark room the lettering and some of the eagle did glow. Amazing, I didn't know they did that. One of the hooks at the back has "D.R.G.M." stamped on it.

            LonePine,
It is possible that someone had removed most of the paint from the eagle. I am, however, still thrown off by the backing, the size of the support hooks and the lack of magnetic properties of the gorget itself. All the originals I have seen (and I certainly have not seen them all) were magnetic, had smaller hooks and grey-green woolen backing.
Here is the back of a real one posted here last year.

Tried to find that web site, but it wouldn't come up?

I see what you mean, but it could be possible that this one is a different maker?.
Anyone else seen one like this?

The chain is definately fake, the "slides" are too wide, the backing is incorrect, and the detail on the LW eagle and lettering appear indistinct.....I'm afraid it's one of the reproductions currently flooding the market (and have been for at least the last 20 years). An original LW Feldgendarmerie Gorget is exceptionally rare!

                Sorry.....but I'd want to know.

                  Thanks John
The photo is not real good, the eagle is actually quite detailed, but I'm certain your right, it is a fake. Just wanted to know for sure as I got this in a big job lot collection I bought out and wanted to sell it. Don't want to rip anyone off or do myself out of some money also.
