I have had this item for 30 plus years, and I recently searched this forum for similar examples. The few that I viewed appear to have more of a solid white embroidery versus a shiny, silvered thread (does not show up well in the photo). Is mine a fake? The crooked arm of the swastika concerns me. Thanks for your expert opinions.

Matt, it sounds like you have the silvered thread example, which was for an officer grade. The white thread example was for other other ranks. Personally I've not seen enough true officer grade examples to make an informed opinion towards authenticity so I'm on the fence. Although I've seen this pattern/type used on an officer grade cap before for whatever that's worth. Hopefully someone else will be able to help here.

Thanks for your comment. I will keep researching this item to ensure that I don't have a fake sitting in my collection.
