What kind of ballbark value money wise would a 4 pocket wartime bahnschutz em tunic with close to matching grey piped long trousers be worth in excellent condition ..maybe never issued..has darker blue sleeve eagle nicely attached..looks like the early ss one..provisions for slip on boards..no collar insignia mounted ..Billbert
    PS right from vets family..

Personally I have no idea as to value, although some pictures might help you with opinions from others.

Somewhere between $1000 ($700+$300) and $1400 ($900+$500) would be my "guestimate"... I know its quite a spread and there are collector values and dealer prices which are often way way out of sink with each other...I guess its worth what somebody is willing to pay! If you break the set up and somebody is in dire need of the pants to complete another tunic set up, you could get more for the pants of course (but it would be a shame to break this up) ! So it all depends.... It sound like a great set!

The positives are that its in mint condition, the negatives are that it was never completed, insignia (rank) missing...
Perhaps the vet liberated it off a rack at a tailor???
I know a set sold for far more a while back but it was with all insignia and included a cap and a belt... I agree images would be helpful but such para- military uniforms fetch far less than armed forces...but I like them!!!

This set sold on Manions for $3300 USD ?????
That's way too much in my view... What am I missing?
I would say its worth 1/2 that!
Must have been the result of 2 bidders slugging it out with each other!

Manions also sold 2 pairs of Bahnschutz Breeches for $845 (so about $423 each)

I agree that this set went too high. Particularly considering that the shoulder boards are not matching to the markings in the tunic. The tunic is marked to the 19th Bezerk while the boards indicate the 15th. The two sets of breeches were also mothed but I guess that is fair market value on that particular day.

--I'd be shocked if this set went for 1000 on the estand today. Congrats to the winning bidder, and good luck on re-sale!

                          Bernd,

I think these bidders were infected with auction fever. Oh well, I suppose mine is worth more now too so I can't complain.
