    Police combat tunic question

Here are some wonderful period images from Bavaria showing Pol.Geb.Jäg.RGT. 18
(posted Hannes/Gran Sasso, which I am borrowing from the photo section for the purpose of uniform study!)

    Here is my question:
Police tunics, early rock types, later combat wool versions and mottled cotton examples generally always have the PLEATED breast and UNPLEATED skirt pockets...
That is the general rule for Polizei patterns if I am not mistaken...

So what are these? Converted Heer? or an exception to the rule? Maker's variation?
    Ernst? Anybody?
    Seems strange to me!
    Thanks
    Nick

Let me change that, great pictures!! The M42 feld tunic had pleates on the lower pockets that were later eliminted on the M43 ordered version. Trying to tell, is there an added belt ramp hook appearing in the 2nd photo?

Yes 2nd foto has belt hooks. Thanks, I did not know about bottom pockets pleated M42 Polizei Combat tunics... So a very limited run...after that M43.
I've always seen M43 pattern tunics in Polizei pictures... and I own 4 such tunics in my collection, with both 5 button and 6 button patterns, no lower pleats...
that is what I'm used to seeing!
          Good info!

Yep, I'd assume what we're looking at in the pictures is a modified M42 to add belt support hooks to the front being it was orginally constructed with only two on the rear.

Certainly a limited run tunic design, especially since we primarily see M43's w/o lower pleated pockets. Although there are a few M42's around dated 1942 and generally modified to add extra support hooks.

Just another variation to hunt for!

I would like to link myself to this thread to ask further questions:

Were the tabs and the boards for such Police Regiments the same of Schupo, with green backing? Which eagle is worn here, the embroidered green schupo eagle or the gray on green bevo type?
              Thanks

                Hello,

Most probably a green embroidered eagle with no name in the "cut out" form. The "BEVO" type eagles don't show up until much later in 1944.

                Regards,
                W.Unland
