Reproduction Police Eagles

Another "brand" of re-enactor eagles currently on the market: I believe these are cap eagles. The two officers are VERY convincing.

Another nicely made eagle, except for the black thread:

Now for a couple that are really tough. This is a really fine WSP eagle and at first glance appears legitimate. BUT, it has all th characteristics of a Pakistani reproduction.

Next a general officer's eagle that "almost" makes it, except for the rediculously downturned wings:

A couple more Pakistanis: Both nicely executed, but with typical Pakistani characteristics, and there is that named officer again.

Here is the officer's version of the re-enactor eagle discussed earlier in the thread, along with it's reproduction cufftitle: Not really bad quality work, but details in blue thread and odd details to the head and body.

And here are a couple of re-enactor officer's cap eagles. These shouldn't fool anyone, but are presented to cover the bases, as it were.

one more before I forget, a really well made eagle that would fool most. The heavier top winglet with backward slanting embroidery and some other details are telling. It is being sold as a reproduction on a re-enactor site, but amongst repro officer's eagles this is one of the best!

Another really nice, and nearly successful attempt at a WSP officer's eagle, but there is that black thread detail again, as well as down slopping wings:

And really, the last one, a general officer that is nearly perfect and convincing, but again having some Pakistani characteristics. This one is a tough call, and I am not totally convinced it is bad. That said, the crossed double threads picking out the chest detail is pure Pakistani, and a detail NOT seen on known originals.

Thank you for the outastanding presentation, on the plethora of reproduction eagles. There are, certainly, more than a few that would have fooled me.

I have printed this thread and believe this will be the best availavle reference, when shopping for original police eagles.

Bill, excellent thread about reproductions. This a really good study for all interested in police sleeve insignia, although it's also bad that we need to remain so vigilant of all that junk entering and diluting the polizei field of collecting. I'm really tired of my reproduction folder becoming the fastest growing folder of the hobby.

George just gave me this eagle photo which deserves to be in the thread for no other reason than it qualifies as the most ugly reproduction. I can't tell if the wings are just folded or bent, or are really embroidered this badly, but this appears to be the real intended design! The toucan beak is also quite dramatic!

A couple of more of the recent officer's repros. Probably Pakistani, but getting closer and closer. This one from an outfit called "Kelly's Militaria", and considering the quality of work a bargain at $15!
