And the black one: This one is really quite good and will fool many. Luckily so far they always seem to make at least one glaring mistake........can you see what's wrong with this one? Don't post the answer please.

      Bill,

This is actually the flat, and misshapen, design of this eagle as it is a direct scan. The wings do bend down and the embroidery really is this bad. A fellow gave me this eagle when he got it in a group of insignia that was "salted" with a few original pieces of insignia. I have never seen another quite this poorly made and ugly.

        New One From E-Bay

Can we christen these bullion with black details the "S & M Birds" or "Birds of Bondage" ??

        http://cgi.ebay.com/WWII-German-Poli...QQcmdZViewItem

The only thing this has going for it is the seller alludes to the fact it is post war.

Here is Andy's eagle from e-bay. Yup, he's got the corset thing going:
Maybe this bird was intended for the kinky SS-police "Peitschen und kettet" division.

Adding to post #48, below is some supporting documentation to the reproduction that JoeW provided a while back. Notice it is hand stitched and in both aluminum(silver) and gold on green and black. It also appears to have been constructed on a white backing as seen in my subsequent post.

                Hello,

I just received this photo of a whole flock of reproductions offered for sale by a German dealer as repros. Clearly still in production and still for sale in any flavor you might want. These look similar to the "famous" repro but a bit different. I will need to get a bit closer to make a positive ID.

                Regards,

The 'gentleman' selling this is known for selling reproductions of civilian police insignia. Guess he is branching out into TR stuff now as well.

Presently he is selling this WSP version, along with named Schupo and Gendarm versions. All have this same type of long slender 'pick axe' beak.

                            Police green uncut eagle

                            Hi guys .
                            Here is my one .
I do have "2 original and 1 fake" opinions on this .
these 2 positive feedbacks came from experienced collectors.
                            thanks
                            Petr

In my opinion this insignia is a reproduction. There are more than a few "tells" suggesting this is fake. Of course my opinion and a dollar will buy you a cup of coffee!
