The same sprung to mind too . Or a recruit in a non-Germanic Police battalion/regiment (Baltic, Ukrainian, Croatian ...).

Should be yellow and silver...I'm wondering if he's possible Unterwachmeister with the outer braids of yellow with silver V's? But then the center seem bright / off from being yellow unless we have a lighting factor at work. Any chance at seeing a close up if the rank strap and the sleeve eagle? Thanks! BTW, great WSP picture!

That is an interesting photo. Looks like an "officer" grade cap eagle, possibly a bullion sleeve eagle ( the embroidery seems to have a lot of depth and definition usually not seen in standard NCO insignia), and boards that don't look like WSP. Every WSP board I have seen is silver on yellow as Dave says. These look like they have a brown underlay to the outermost row of braid. Very odd looking. It doesn't look like shadows or photography artifact. Maybe Weimer boards????

Deuster said that this strip on the sleeve refers to - from the wachtmeister to hauptwachtmeister. I also think that the outer cord is brown. Not yellow with white, as it should be. But the cap of his NSO.

What does the number 7 on shoulder straps mean?

Is this one also dated? Just curious with such dark collars and hat band, possible later on when light brown was replaced with darker or just lighting. I would have assumed Administrative just looking at it.

Color of the Administrative Police in the photo is lighter.

In some cases but it really does vary from photo to photo depending on a number of conditions. The darker cap band / collar still makes me think Admin. Is the photo notated / dated on the back?

No, the photo is not dated. But I think that it is a late tunic.
