        Gerd,

Thanks my friend. If it wasn't for your regular doses of imperial police this forum would be a total bust of late.

Great historical photos of things I have never seen, and never would if not for this thread!

Frankly, with a dirth of reference I am very impressed that you are able to identify these esoteric organizations and localities.

        Bravo.

        Regards,
        Bill Unland

              small-talk anno 1915

A mounted Gendarm (right 3rd Brigade/cavallery saber) talking with a non mounted Gendarm (left officer with field-gray Gendarmerie uniform and Reichsrevolver)

                This is a Kommissar from

                St. Johann an der Saar

(Königreich Preussen, Provinz Rheinland,Regierungsbezirk Trier, Kreis Saarbrücken....round about 24000 inhabitants in 1905)

He is dressed with a so called Ueberrock.

...some years ago I received (different source!!) a very similar photo ........... dated 1920.

I tend to say, these are 2 photos of one officer (one shows him as younger, one as the older officer)

Sadly for him, no promotion to a higher rank during the past 15-20 years of service
