                Englisted (not mounted) Landgendarm. Armed with a so called Seitengewehr für Fahnenträger (introduced 1900).

                Rarely seen, because most Gendarmen didn´t like this "toothpick". Landgendarmen say, that´s not a side-arm for tough men, maybe good for children to play with

                      I believe that the pic in post 75 is proof to the old saying "every jar has a lid" In this case a very large jar.

                        Gerd, I just spent the last few hours going through this thread and it has been thoroughly enjoyable. So many fancy uniforms and changes in style and facial hair. I am truly amazed, thank you so much for taking the time to share all of these wonderful old photos.

                        Dave and Graham added some excellent portraits as well, I do love those Sipo pics!
