      Dear Robert,

Very nice. First I have seen, but make perfect sense. The photo I recall showed a 43 type brimmed cap in what appeared to be mottled green. it was made like an army tropical with false side flaps.

        Robert,

Seeing these mottle side caps area first for me, well marked and certainly go well with your tunic!!! Very nice! A quick google search indicates Marie Slama & Sohn is still in business and since 1902.

"The cap factory Marie Slama & Son is a supplier of the federal government and the municipalities and manufactures caps of all kinds for large customers."

That Heer helmet looks like it has a mint decal, WOW!

Bill and Dave, thanks for the kind comments! Dave, the decal is mint on the helmet as well - it was a good day for the home team. Regards, Robert

            Hi Robert,

What a great find! I've never seen these mottled o/s caps before either.
To think that found two at once! I too would love to own one of these caps.

I've got a Po. bergmutze by the same maker, and to add a bit to what Dave mentions,
Marie Slama & Sohn was based out of Wien berfore and during the war.

            Regards,

            Marcus

                Dear Marcus,

Is your cap gray with green piping.......as in Luftschutzpolizei? VERY interesting. Never seen that one either! Very rare indeed.

Marcus, I agree with Bill - that's a great hat that you should feature in another thread to get some exposure! I like the short bill/single button and almost Austrian cut, and thanks for showing the manufacturers' stamp so clearly.

                  regards, Robert

                    Thank you Bill and Robert.
I believe the bergmutze is actually Schupo as this next foto was taken in better light shows. Unfortunately, period b/w fotos do not differentiate between green and orange so there is really no way to judge how common they were during the war.

                    Cheers!

Does anyone have a picture of the mottled m 43 spoken of earlier in this thread. Thanks

I had one at one stage. It had false flaps, no buttons, and a bevo woven eagle, PO42 stamped. I traded it for a 98K bayonet in 1974 after being convinced by another collector it was not of a type ever manufactured.
