What Kind of Police Hat is This and is it Real?

I have no idea what kind of police hat this is or even if it is real. Any thought?

Dear Steve,

The cap looks to be a standard field cap with a side cap eagle sewn to it. This particular type of eagle is common on feuerwehr caps but was certainly used on other police caps as well. Perhaps it at one time had a cloth kokarde above the eagle. The eagle itself seems authentic. All the police side cap eagles were on black with an off white embroidery. These later caps usually had a 'bevo" type machine woven insignia in gray and green, but I see no particular reason why an earlier side cap eagle couldn't have been used.

This guy is wearing a similar cap with a seperate eagle and cloth kokarde, just a slightly different eagle with the backing cut to shape.

Thank you for your help and your picture. For some reason I like the look of this hat eventhough it is a bit goofy. I must ad mit I do not know alot about police items.
