RAD Collar Tabs

I just got these RAD collar tabs in the mail . They are bullion silver thread on soft dark blue velvet on a heavy sack type backing .They still have a small silver bullion dbl. string around them . Posted by Bernd.

I like to know the following : What time frame were these in use by the RAD , what service branch , what rank and what shouder boards should I look for to go with these ? Thanks , Bernd .

you have a mint unissued pair of 3rd pattern (1942-45) unterfeldmeister-oberstfeldmeister ( NCO-Sgt.- to middle ranking officers-captain.-) collar tabs for the medical branch of the RAD,the shoulder boards would have the same color blue backing,and the actual rank would be determined by the shoulder boards/pips,very nice BTW!

here is one that i had in my collection with 2nd pattern medical collar tabs (its hard to see in the photo but they have blue backing) ,the boards stayed the same for 3rd pattern,so boards like this or with 1 or 2 pips would be correct for your tabs

Well , as luck will have it , I found a nice pair of RAD shoulder boards at the KANSAS CITY Gun show on 1-12. They are on dark green velvet , which I understand stands for Administrative .Posted by Bernd .
