    Transport Korps Speer uniform

I've been offered this Transport Korps Speer uniform which was found in Austria. I don't have the asking price yet... and only these 2 pictures at this time.
The wool looks kind of fresh...looking at the nap.... no wear... same with the buttons... mint green paint... so perhaps a closet find? or repro? Maybe I should ask for detail shots of the inside buttons and stamps to make sure its not a rebuilt RAD piece... but it doesn't look like it has sleeve slits like you would expect with RAD... Its also a 6 button cut! Will that help?
Does it look promising? First impression? Value?
    Thanks
    Nick
PS: I POSTED MORE PICTURES FURTHER ON IN THIS THREAD!

      Hello,

I have never seen this type of tunic so I can not offer any opinion as to originality other than some general observations.

My initial feeling is: Who would reproduce such an obscure tunic? The money is in the dark side (SS) and combat tunics. 99% of potential buyers wouldn't even know what this was, and would certainly not be willing to buy it.

I might be wrong, but I think most obscure organizations tunics are not being widely reproduced.............yet.

Police used to be safe. But now they are being reproduced, quite convincingly. So I guess caution with EVERYTHING is advisable.

        SPeer tunic

Makes sense Bill... so the chances that its legit are pretty good... I now have an asking price...the seller wants 600 for it. Its in Europe so he's most likely talking Euros not dollars unfortunately. STill a reasonable price, right?Nick

          Hello,

Value is way off topic for me. I have never seen a tunic like this, so value is what you are willing to pay. If a dealer was selling, it would be billed as "Extremely Rare", "one of a kind" with an equally exaggerated price. But, these civil tunics are not always that popular, and resale may be impossible.

I always look at items as how they fit in with my interests, not really market value as I don't plan on selling anything. If I am later forced to sell something I ALWAYS loose money, but that's part of the game. A "rental fee" for the time I had an item is how I look at it.

          Regards,
          Bill U

            Dealers

Yeah Bill, some dealers sure know how to put spin on an item... making it sound unique and therefor more pricey, their goal of course...
(as opposed to obscure and perhaps less desirable...)
Anyway I've linked this thread to the political section as TKS is an offshoot of NSKK which belongs in the political section... SOmetimes I wish that with political they would just mean NSDAP and keep everything else here in this section (civilian + para military + police or even segregate police if that's too big of a category)...oh well...
Maybe I'll get more responses from that other section of WAF. Thanks for your opinions so far! Nick

The tunics are uncommon, and the visors very rare. Bob Coleman has a few of these which he has posted. You may want to look at the Angolia NSKK/NSFK reference as well.
BTW, Maederer has this ensemble on his site for $8500, which gives you an idea of the rarity of these things:

I have a soldbuch to a Transport Korp Speer Rottenfuehrer. Even though he is wearing a Luftwaffe flieger blouse, notice the sholderboards.

                  Thanks for the answers guys.
The ID picture is NSKK-Luftwaffe, not Speer. (the narrow shoulderboards are cleary NSKK). If this picture appears in a Speer soldbuch, than its an older picture and he was transferred from NSKK to TKS.

The other uniform with visor is of course regular NSKK, not Speer, still very nice , but WOW outrageously expensive! Speer is actuallly much rarer than NSKK, as it was a smaller (war time only) organization.... Interesting this price comparison Stonemint! Thanks! by the way yes I have Angolia's NSKK-NSFK book, a must have for this topic! Thanks!

Re the TKS uniform that started this thread:
The seller offering the tunic explained that he paid $480 for it and I can have it for $650 including shipping from Europe. I'm pretty sure i'll go ahead and get it as the seller has a return policy, so if I don't like it, no risk really and the price is very very reasonable (cheap actually). I'll post more pictures of it as soon as it arrives from Europe. Nick

                    Nick,
You are right. He was originally with Bau units of the Luftwaffe and was with: Erg.Abtl.NSKK Trsp. Brig. Speer d. Lw., when he was promoted to Sturmmann ( see scan) and was later promoted to Rottenfuhrer, the rank in the Soldbuch photo, when he was with: Stab I Kw. Trsp. Rgt. 6 (Speer). Were these seperate units from Transport Speer?

Great document. The unit stamp is Todt and the driver is ID'd as Speer!! Todt also had drivers. It was really a hodgepodge these drivers starting at NSKK, assigned to a LW unit hence the fliegerbluse, (LW-bau related in this case, so most likely driving materials for Luftwaffe related construction) and eventually becoming Todt or Speer drivers when they took over some of the NSKK truck driver duties. I believe that Speer took over Todt drivers (after Todt's death Speer became in charge of besides armament also supply and construction, busy guy!) So as you stated correctly its indeed an (early) Speer ID but with a NSKK-Todt unit stamp used for some reason and showing a driver in a LW-NSKK uniform!) Interesting combination! Most NSKK LW drivers were foreigners actually but not this guy, =Deutscher. This is an awesome document and its issuance was at the time that Speer was still NSKK affiliated! Later they broke away and introduced their own uniform rank insignia (so independent of NSKK) and even the NSKK eagle and shoulderboards were dropped (like the uniform that started this thread). Thanks for sharing!!

Here's an image of the (partial) lining...A large piece is missing...oh well...
It has no size or unit stamps at all... unless these appeared on the missing lining panel...too bad...
