    Cased Red Cross Honor Pin

Guys, need some help to determine originality. I recently sold this cased Red Cross Honor pin which I purchased from Detlev some time ago.

I know nothing about the set other than I thought it was original, case and pin. The recent buyer said that upon it's arrival he checked the case inside and out and when it was exposed to black light it glowed like the sun, indicating at least the case is post-war.

I never took the case apart and tested it but I was disappointed to hear none the less.

Can anyone help? I don't doubt what the buyer said I just want other opinions so when I e-mail Detlev I can try to get my money back.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Mike, I am the one who purchased it from you. I actually like the pin a lot. Hope others agree. It is just the case I have a problem with. The lid satin lining material glows brightly under a black light. Also, the padding under the satin feels like a sponge - not a good sign. The cardstock white border around the base where the pin is inserted also glows brightly. I certainly did not take the case apart, though. In the end, I hope (and think) the pin is original and was just put into an appropriate size German jewelry or modern stickpin case. If I am correct in my evaluation, maybe we can work somthing out, as I still would be happy with the pin...Tom

BTW I am not upset with you at all over this, as I don't think you intentionally did anything wrong. It does make me wonder about the expertise of our German expert friends, however...Tom

          Hi Tom,

No problem, I'll make it right so that you are happy.

Send me a PM and we will take care of it.

What worries me that if the case is that obviously bad I believe Detlev should have picked up on it for sure. Makes me wonder........I know he's a good dealer and all but the case sounds like a ground ball and should have been detected by him.

          Thanks,
          Mike

I cannot comment on the case, but from what I can see in your pictures there is nothing to worry about with the pin.

If you can, is it possible to get a closer picture of the front of the badge taken straight on? I'd like to see the Swastika to double check.... But I don't think you have anything to worry about.

            Cheers
            Don
