I have a question about the Schirmmütze of the Hitlerjugend.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
Why is the band of the Schirmmütze sometimes dark and other times brown (the colour of the cap). I’ve read somewhere that brown is for the Gefolgschaftsführer/Oberstammführer and black for Bannführer/Hauptbannführer. But I saw a picture of an Oberscharführer with a brown band and a picture of a Hauptgefolgschaftsführer with a dark band.<o></o>
Very confusing. Can somebody help me?<o></o>

what you say it's true but is still a difference between time pics, and regulation "Organisationsbuch".

How was it in 1944? I have a picture showing a Scharführer with a brown band and a Gefolgschaftsführer with a black band.

Michael,
as said regulation and reality are 2 different things , and some times known HJ members => "war heroes", offen "Ritterkreuztr******228;ger" knight cross holder, were "allowed" to wear non regular uniforms.
The "Gefolgschaft" leader cap was also offen worn as "evening dress" cap, on lower ranks with leather chin strap (see Angolia's time pics in his HJ books).
