Red Cross Breast Star opinions sought...

    Hi Gents,
I've been offered this Red Cross 1st Class Star and would like opinions on it, please. Is anyone able to identify the marking?

    Cheers,
    Arran.

              Hi Arran,

I like the detail and the construction. These things are so expensive they can really put the effort into faking them. My first impression is I like it. Should you bet your life on it - I wouldn't go that far. Maybe some more experienced folks will weigh in now that I've broken the surface tension.

              Cheers, Bill Huber

Thanks for the response. I like the look of it, too, and the owner is eager to sell it- what would be a reasonable value?

                Cheers,
                Arran.

                  DRK Breast Star

                  Arran,

I'm not a fan of the award you show. Compare it to the one I purchased last year from Warlord. Price was £2,500.

First one in this topic here: A not good Fake ! No Doubt.

Stan, could you post a shot of the reverse?
                    regards

                        Hello Stan,
thank you for the pictures. Any Marker´s Mark on the back? A "900" or "800" stamp? How is the white enamell work of the arms of the cross?
Original one´s of these Breaststars are extremly rare and only a hand full were awarded.

Only some known recipients of the 1937-1939 Breaststar:

                        - Walter Funk
                        - Dr. Ernst R. Grawitz (SS-Reichsarzt)
                        - Carl-Eduard Herzog von Sachsen-Coburg (head of the DRK)
                        - Edmund Glaise Horstenau (diplomatic corps)

                        regards
                        Florian

                          DRK Breast Star

                          Florian,

I don't know how rare these are but I do know that I prefer this star to another which is for sale and which is marked either 800 or 900. My piece has no maker marks and the cross attachment is very slim compared to normal DRK Crosses. That is to say that a normal DRK Cross has not be affixed.

                          Stan
