Hello once again,
This item is from the estate of the late William Henry (see my other posts for more of his war trophies). It is a rather large felt patch that is embroidered with the coat of arms of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. This is a market town in the Oberbayern region of Bavaria, near the border with Austria. In 1935 Hitler forced the Mayors of the two separate towns to combine to form one in the anticipation of the 1936 Winter Olympic games.
The patch has very light soiling and is in nice shape except for a small nip in the top left corner. My question is this, any idea what this patch would of went to? I would expect it to be totally civilian in origin, but could it go with a civilian police or fireman's uniform? Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Eric.
