Great addition Mike. That's one of the nicest I've seen.

Nice looking cap! Thanks for the tour of the "showroom" a while back. You are going to have to build on an addition!

      Cheers!

        thanks jim
Hi Jim ..I'm not sure if it was for Platform or Senior pay grade personnel ..
Still looking for any in depth ref books on the RB.
If the Train Platform was full of people ..someone wearing a Red top would be easier to pick out in a crowd ...just a guess

I have one Reichsbahn reference book, by J.Piekalkiewicz, called Die Deutsche Reichsbahn im Zweiten Weltkrieg" 1998. I purchased my copy from Diane Schreiber. It's German text, with many great photo references. In the back of the book, there's an ad for several books on German railway, from past to present....

In fact, I would go to either Diane or Gerard for paygrade and rank info. I know that BOTH have in-depth knoledge on it....Diane has got to be one of the most knowledgable on all civil organizational ranks...

              books

thanks gentlemen, I guess it was the wings on the visor that got me. remove them and I have seen the visor. I have a red station superintendents visor and understand your point about visibility in a crowded station.
as for books I would love to get some names but more importantly were to get them, as I have spent many hour searching book stores nearby, at shows and on line, including ones linked to militaria sites and search results for reichsbahn and german railway always come up ZERO.

Well, it's hard to tell, as they're B&W, but certainly possible. As I understand it, weren't there two different red topped RR visors? The superintendant's having a larger oversized top? Here are a few scans for you.

All is well Mike. Project is puttering along at a reasonable pace. I've taken a bit of a break. I'm getting to know the old post office better then ever before.
