just for future reference, yellow meant a higher "rank" official. need to say that it was fun finding out all the other information i acquired about the reichsbahn in the search for this simple question.

      Reichsbahn Branch Colours (Spartenfarben) 1937-45

      Hello,

By regulations their were only two branch (Spartenfarbe) colours used by the German Railways from 1937-45:

Red - Operational Officials (Locomotive Drivers, Brakemen, Signals, etc)

      Blue - Railway Administration Officials

I do have a pair of shoulder boards with silver braid and yellow "Spartenfarbe" which is beleived to be for a private Railway Ferry Service.

From 1941 onward certain ranks such as Amtmann, etc. used a yellow or yellow & blue secondary branch color.

Unfortunately my copy of the Uniformenmarkt does not specify what these branch colours signify.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers,

      Diane
