      Real

Don's right. No Question. The only real question is why you woyuld be interested in buying something that you are not comfortable with based upon your own experience and knowledge. Fools are often parted from their money. Knowledge is the only way to protect yourself. Don't let others run your interests. Even friends can disappoint and be wrong.

Jay, A tad harsh, no? The guy wanted a little advice on this heavily faked badge thats all I think. The responder uses his experience and expertise about this piece to impart his opinion. If he asked for an image of an authentic piece so he could compare to the dealer would that have been more appropriate? Are we not to help others in the collecting community or fly solo, get burned, quit collecting, or worse yet, pass a bad piece along to someone else? Just my opinion. Robert

Tomas, How about posting some images of a few of your rarer HJ items if you have the time and inclination? Robert

              Intent

My intent was not to criticize or offend. If that seemed the case, my apologies on this New Year. Expensive items are expensive, yes. But in my fit of the moment I replied only from my personal experience. We've all made and make mistakes. Hopefully, those result in minor losses. Having made what I consider to be a major mistake in 1982 due to a lack of personal knowledge in an area, it became very clear to me that before I paid good, hard earned cash for anything I would 1) deal with reputable peeople who can still make honest mistakes, and 2) invest in the books that taught me the essentials, and 3) handle as many pieces as I could so that I would learn as much about the area of interest before the money changed hands. Then mistakes were truly mine and mine along. May everyone have had a great 2005 on collecting, and may 2006 only bring the best into everyone's collections.

                Hello
I am a bit late but those Reichsiegers look great. I have admired them for a little while, sadly cannot afford at the moment. I would love to handle more of these high end HJ items but you just don't see them.
I was interested in what was said about getting experience and handling as many of these items as you can, but how do you go about that very task. You either need soem real friendly dealers or rich friends who don't mind you pawing their collection surely?? Eiother way I have not go that in the UK LOL
                Regards
                MG
