    Mutterkreuz help needed

Please, help me judging this cross.
It is offered for about $75 and said to be original.
I doubt the latter (because of the too clean and wide engravings on the back and the weird edges of the zigzag areas) , but you're the experts. The case seems to be original for a greenhorn like me, but I'd like to hear your opinion.
    Fake or not?

Cross and case are both fine IMO. Price is extremely good, I'd snap it up!

I have not seen a Mother's cross with raised lettering to it. IIRC the lettering should be impressed or hand engraved, not part of the mold proccess.
      But I could be wrong.

        Hello all
The box looks good. I think the cross is good too. IMO The enamel looks fine. The lettering on the back looks fine too.
        Buy it!
        Regards
        Steve

Well I still have a problem with the raised letters. A page out of Angolia's book "For Fuhrer and Fatherland Political and Civil Awards, showing the construction of the cross, read the part below the photo.

Are the letters really raised?? They do not look it to me but then again, the screen I am using today is a little dark...

It's kind of hard to tell, but I think the letters are stamped on this one.Maybe the owner can elaborate. If they are stamped,I would say this is a great deal.Regards,Darrick

The cross is lit from below, that's why shadows make letters on the backside to look as they were raised. But I think they are engraved. The front letters are raised for sure.

Hey, check out this other one! Look at the width of the arms of the cross and their position compared to the letters of the text.
The zigzags on the appropriate areas look different, too. They seem to be deeper cut on the second cross. I checked some MCs on some dealers' pages, but all crosses' zigzags look like the first one's (they are less sharp than on my cross).
                  Opinions?

The first one is from here, the second is the same as above (resized).

Not wrong Laurence, raised letters are not good, but the letters on this one are not raised but engraved as they should be. I had the same problem when I looked at it as well and finally after a few minutes of starring the eyes figured it out.

As for the cross, it looks good but the disc is at a strange angle. The TT in Mutter is almost always dead center on these and the swaz is straight and aligned, but on this one the TT is off to one side more than it should be. I wouldnt figure too much into it BUT the swaz still appears to be aligned straight to the cross and not turned the same direction of the disc lettering.

If anyone else has an example like this I would love to see it, but I am having my doubts.

                    Al
