    Gestapo ID shield for review

Got this pictures from a guy nearby who wanted to sell this Gestapo ID shield (nr 675).
The shield came from a former Gestapo/SS headquarter according to owner.
Any comments, a real one or a copy?
    Thanks in advance.

That appears to be an original, and a nice low number.

Post it on this Forum also.
But it does look good, initially.

I messaged Don Bible and JoeW on this.
Don says that it is not a known recorded number.
If you can get the weight in grams, it would be useful to publish here.

I see nothing that would argue against its being an original. What I understood Don to mean in his response to TP Alexander—“it is not a known recorded number”—is that this number has never been noted/observed/recorded before. Which does not imply that because the number hasn’t been seen before that the Dienstmarke is somehow suspect.

Right. What Tim is saying is that it isn't coming from a collection/collector known to Don Bible, who maintained a comprehensive list of original disks as a service to the collecting community and for his own research. So it is new to the market, and not one of that has passed through many collectors hands.

                  regards, Robert

In my database I do have 675 recorded as an Ausweis for a Gemeinde Kripo official. Perhaps we have another instance of a duplicate number coming out of the SIPO personnel department.

The disc has a weight of 26 gram, solid piece.
Provenance, a Norwegian resistance fighter did take this in headquarter of Gestapo/SD in Asker (Skaugum). Got it from his daughter.

It looks to be a very fine Gestapo disc. Thank you for the excellent photos. And it appears to be now one of only six duplicate discs numbers I have recorded in my data base.
