        John,

Thanks for posting these photos. They are really in response to your thread on the cased dog award you located. The first scan is of a Police Sport Festival catalog. The cover lists events such as: Riding, Motorcycling, and Dog sports. Notice the pictorial presentation of the German Shepard. I think this is a pretty neat graphic.

The second scan is a cased award for Police Dog Proofing. That is to say, qualification for service as a police dog. This non-portable award is the one that I mentioned in John's post asking questions about the other dog award. This particular award is named to the dog "Astor" on the reverse and lists his qualilfication as "Very Good." An intersting award that was actually given to the Polizeihund.

Interesting polizei related items and great to see the cased dog award! Was there anything on the cover or just all green? They sure loved the hunds!
Interested in the Gendarmerie - Schutzpolizei - Gemeinden - Feuerschutzpolizei - Wasserschutzpolizei - Etc. Looking For Anything Polizei Related!

            Dave,

The fitted case is all green with green velvet lower interior and a padded satin lining in the top. It is a well executed case with no markings on the vaulted (not flat) green cover. As you can see, it has a brass push button closure much like many IC cases did. The case does have a sticker with the maker name "Thieme & Fuchs" in Leipzig on the bottom. The custom award not only has the Polizei Hund Verein monogram on the front but the circular high relief bust of the dog is separately applied. I presume this is so different busts for different breeds of dog might be affixed. Good looking portrait of the Shepard, is it not?
