RDH Dog breeder / handler award?

    hi guys,

for those of you that know me... you know of my nut like fixation on dog photos and war dog realted items. i am working on a book concerning war dogs and the dogs of war being a treatise on the use of dogs both in a military role, as well as in a more familiar role such as a pet/mascot. a friend sent me the item you see described and photographed below.

i have never seen any such award, but do know of course that similar awards
were given to horse breeders, farmers, etc. i was wondering if you might be
able to tell me whether or not this award might be legitimate. i know nothing
of the seller either (http://www.militarywarehouse.net/)... but am wondering
    about
the RDH. what is/was the RDH? what do you think of the seller?... the award?.

any help any of you might be able to give would be greatly appreciated.

          John,

I have never seen this particular award before or heard of the RDH. It certainly looks original and correct to me. I have a similar cased non-portable award for the "proofing" of German Police Dogs. My award is a similar plaquette for the German Police Dog Sports Association certifying the dog for active police service. I also have various German police manuals for the use of police dogs.

I cannot post photos but I could send you a scan of the award if you would like to post it.

          George

            Hello John,

this is indeed a legitimate award and looks 100% correct to me.the RDH stands for Reichs Verband fur das Deutsche Hunde Wesen (national league for the breeding of german dogs) there is a picture of a non portable award (table medal) on page 82 of Angolias and Littlejohns book "labor oraganizations of the Reich" with the identical design,i will post a scan when i have some time later today.hope this helps some.

been a little faster i might have got it. maybe next time
                        though

BUT it will put a fire under my backside to find some more
like it... or something like that... now as it appears that
the RDH is real. i'll have to study up on them
