    Panzer photo for auction

    Hi -

I just saw this photo and I am wondering if that is an original or if it is known photo (or known reproduction). It is on RIDAX paper...

    Kind regards,

Of course it is an original image, one that I have not seen and I like it very much. Whether it is a reprint, I cannot tell.

As someone who knows fairly a lot about photos, saying that it is a genuine pre-1945 made image is gutsy from such a bad scan! Ridax paper is by far the most widely used photographic paper when it comes to post-WW2 reproductions and fakes. There have been piles of it left over (and because of the quality and texture, it is not as desirable as the old Agfas for example...)

Anyway, my initial question was a bit clumsy. I am curious if this is a known or a published image or a private snapshot... something that has not been widely circulated...

Also, any info about the subject would be welcomed! Thank you!

Here is a bit more detailed pic...

Would anyone know what panzer is that?

And what is the cufftitle on the panzerman?

        Thank you!!

I guess Africa with palms. By the way, a very nice photo.

Looking for DKiG Heer winner Soldbuch who also won the TDB and/or CCC, specially in Silver.

This is a Panzer IV -- perhaps Ausf. H. Some of our colleagues here may have more precise knowledge as to the series of this vehicle.

Sorry that I cannot identify the cufftitle worn by the Heer Armored Crewman.

The tank is a Panzer IV, either an H or J, the date of the photograph would confirm which.

Sadly no writing on this one...

Would the camouflage, or the cap on the soldier all the way on the right, give some indication of date?

It is surely late WW2 photo, but I can’t say tell anything more... is Zimmerit the only difference between H and J?

Cap on the right is an M-43. I don't know specifics about distribution & when & where it reached various fronts though.

Of course there's many possibilities as to the unit, Africa veterans could be found all over the place but the pine trees and rocky/dry terrain has me thinking Southern Europe which leads to possibly the 15 Pz.Gren.Div.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
