Did these exist? I perused the search function and found a couple of posters claiming SS award docs with typewritten "SS" anywhere would always appear in runes, and not regular script, and no one challenged the assertion. But there are documents floating around reputable sites to the contrary.

As Brian said and their presence or not can't be used as an indication of authenticity unless it's known for certain a particular awarding authority was using a runic typewriter for a particular award at a particular time.Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
