        My thoughts too. My dads writing is April 1945, I guess when he picked them up. It looks like the old man in the poorly fitted assault gun wrap is getting sworn in. It’s at least Sept of 44 as the one Stug has. Late war cast sows head gun mantle.

            It's definitely a swearing-in ceremony, but the man in the wrapper is not the one being sworn in. (He's already a decorated NCO.) I'd say he led the recruits to be sworn in to the site of the ceremony and is reporting them to the officer in charge of the procedure.

                    Great pics - your dad had good taste

                    H.W. - I don't think this is taking place in an eastern country. The barracks in the background are of the standard German design and the church looks like what you'd see in Bavaria or the Czech Republic.
