    Photos Needed

    Hallo Friends!

I am cooperating with the Polish publisher who is publishing the books concerning the history of the units, constructions, and campaigns of the WWI and WWII.

I am willing to ask YOU for the photos of the equipment from the era. This what I would like to achieve is the publishment copyright from YOU. If You want Your pictures to be published in the OW KAGERO books (the appropriate credit of the owner will be given under the pic) please, post me an PM or simply, answer under this thread.

All I need is Your agreement an HQ scan of the picture.

I hope, You will be of some help - we are all interesting in the history so I think You will be pleased to be part of the future projects of the OW KAGERO.

Thank You in advance. If You have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask them!

Um, World Wars 1 & 2? All in one book? Tomasz, that's going to be one huge undertaking!

          Hallo, it is misunderstanding.

The OW KAGERO has ALREADY published over 100 books and publications concearning WWi and WW II. That is why I am looking for the pictures and they are not to be published in ONE book of course...

They have published/released several history book series i.e. Air Miniatures (these are dealing with Air units history), next is Monographs (lately the Ju-88 vol 2 has been released)...and many many others...

Since they're Polish/English publications there is a chance that maybe one of You knows some of the KAGERO books.

          Some examples:

From the left: Aviation Legends series
          In the MIddle Air Miniatures
          Right Photosniper series
Far right, the newest (mentioned already) Ju-88 vol.2 Monograph series.

I hope it is going to be more convincig of the areas the OW KAGERO is writing about.

We are not limited to the German history as it could be justified from the pics above. We are trying to cover as many areas of the two past wars as only the gained material (infos and photos) allows some examples of the NON German projects (already released):

If Any of You would like to help in the next projects - the photos You have could be priceless illustration to the books we are planning to write and publish.

Oh! That's much more understandable. I didn't know about these books.

Good luck! I wish I could help out, but I don't have any such photo's.

No harm in asking folks for their help. A nice gesture might be to offer a copy of the book in which anyones photos have been used. just a thought?

                    Hi Simon,

You underestimated me I am affraid It was OBVIOUS for me... But thank You for pointing it out.

SO ONCE AGAIN - EVERY CO-AUTHOR (EVEN IF HE PUT ONLY ONE PHOTO THAT WILL BE USED IN THE BOOK WILL RECEIVE A COPY OF IT!!!)

I FORGOT TO TELL - IF YOU PEOPLE HAVE CONCEPTS; MATERIALS INCL: PHOTOS TO WRITE A GOOD HISTORICAL BOOK THAN YOU ARE MOSTLY WELCOMED!!! OF COURSE IN THAT CASE YOU WILL CONSIDERED AS AUTHORS (CO-AUTHORS) -depending what material you can offer.

I know that many of you have gathered unbeliveable collections. We are not willing to rob you off your stuff We are asking for Your permission to share (scans). The history is our primary concern here. If we can do something to let anyone learn it better than why not?

I wish to thank all the people who have written to me already. I hope that more will come.

                      Attention!

                      DEAR MEMBERS!!!

The replies I have been receiving lately are beyond my possibilities of writing back. Let me ask You for something.

IF YOU HAVE THE COLLECTION AND YOU ARE WILLING TO SHARE IT WITH OW KAGERO PLEASE:

                      1) IN CASE OF SEVERAL PHOTOS - WRITE ME AN E-MAIL WITH PUBLISHMENT AGREEMENT AND ATTACH THE HIGH QUALITY SCANS OF THE PICS. DON'T FORGET TO WRITE YOUR FULL NAME AND CONSTANT ADDRESS SO THAT IN CASE YOUR PICTURES WILL BE PUBLISHED I COULD CONTACT YOU:

                      2) IN CASE OF GREATER COLLECTION: PUT THE HIGH QUALITY SCANS ON THE CD; ATTACH YOUR PUBLISHMENT AGREEMENT (ONCE AGAIN DON'T FORGET TO GIVE ME YOUR FULL NAME AND CONTACT ADDRESS) AND SEND IT TO THE FOLLWING ADDRESS (since I am spending the whole days at work I will give my 'working' address)

Well, I can't guarantee that all of the pictures sent to me will be published. I can guarantee You one thing - if only one will be included in the book the owner of it will be the first to know and will have the 'co-author's' copy.

We all know the price of a rare photo. What about money ?

I am not asking to 'buy' the photos. I am asking for the agreement to publish some. But You are right the originals have their prices. However I do not know a single publisher who is interested in buying pictures. The publishe want to have right to publish them - that is all. The publisher is not a collector.

From my experience I know that in most cases the published so called rare pictures are the COURTESY of their owners.

Many of the people showed already that they want to take part in the next projects of OW KAGERO. From my side I am doing it for free - simply I am passionate.

I think it is brilliant to have a rare collection. But what is the collection worth if it can be only seen by its owner?

                            There is a certain misunderstanding.

How much the editor could pay a private collector depending of the interest of his pictures ? Not in buying them but in using them !

If you are using some BA's pictures; you pay them some fees. I don 't see any reasons why a contributor could not get a proper contract with the company. The editor is going to make some bucks with the books. To give him just a book is just a bit cheeky !

Indeed, got Your point this time.

The prices are varying from 2-3€ per picture (we are still talking about a scan of a pic)(if accepted). The problem is - the publisher has to see the pics first to accept them or deny them. It is a standard procedure.

In case of BAs pics You mentioned above there is no trouble since they have a copyrights for them. According to the law, in case of the Archive 2.WK military photos there are NONE. The copyright have the author of the picture if he can prove it (rather impossible - no negative).

The only thing to consider is to aks the current owner for publishment permission (this is what I am doing here). If the both sides agree it can be a money contract as well - Yopu right in this part)

The prices may be, naturally negotiated with the publisher, depending what the pictures are showing.
