Pics of KC ceremoni in schw. Panzerjäger Abt 519

Here are two pics showing Oberfeldwebel Eric Bansen getting his kinght cross out of the hands of General Jordan. The pics has been taken on the 15th March 1944. This unit first had the Nashorn tank hunters and was later equipped with the Jagdpanther. Heavy fighting in the Hurtgenforest area and Aachen. Another knight cross holder as well as German Cross in Gold recipient of this unit was Erwin Kressmann.

Due to the excessive work falling on to myself I have almost no time to spare for my hobby, but I could not stop myself... Yes, this hobby's an uncurable disease...

Jürg, I really love to acquire these photos, when you in the future decide to part with these photographs, please let me know!
I own 150+ photo estate from the DKiG-Träger Oblt.d.R. Strehler from s.Pz.Jg.Abt.519. He was the adjutant to Major Hoppe.

The original owner of the estate split the grouping (though large part of it came to my collection), and I've been trying to restore it. Recently Mr. Peter v. Lucacs sold several at his site, which I managed to buy successfully.

Here's one super photo of Major Hoppe.

Akira do you have the web address of Peter v. Lucas?

And no chance to get the pics. I have direct of Erwin Kressmann who I can call a friend of mine.

Is it possible to get some copies of some of the pics let's say the one you just showed? I also have some more pics of the 519th. For example the ceremoni where Kressmann got his German Cross in Gold as well as of Hoppe (portrait) and some of the dinner after the KC ceremoni.

incidentally, he's now in discount period

No problem, I'd call you the best place for those photographs, let's keep them for future generations, unsplit.

During the last year I failed twice to get Kressmann photos (signed & PK) on ebay. This time (yes, there's one Bansen photo now), I hope I will make it. I have a couple of photos of Herrn Kressmann. I hope I can show you later.

Here is a photo of Herrn Kressmann as an <i>Oberleutnant</i> in Wolchow. Note that he has got a similar Wolchwstock as Major Hoppe.

This is January 1943, so I believe that he was with <i>Panzerj&auml;gerabteilung</i> 24, am I right J&uuml;rg?

And this is Erwinn Kressmann during a visit in May 2001 where I presented him a model I built of a tank hunter "Nashorn". I am very proud to be friend with him.

Great pictures Jürg & Akira, keep them coming we are all eyes!

That Hoppe guy is scary. Doesn´t he have that Anthony Hopkins stance and face!? Hannibal Lecter in Wolchow! "Sniff-sniff, I can smell your crotches, you arm chair commandos behind your PCs!" And what a vain guy he seems to have been, notice that he just pulled his greatcoat open enough to reveal all of his decorations.

Kreßmann seems to be a nice geezer!

Sorry if I put the "historical aura" out of this thread but when I saw Anthony Hopkins there in the snow I couldn´t resist.

                        Cheers, Frank H.

Dear Frank, thanks for a fitting comment to the Hoppe photo. J&uuml;rg, thank you for sharing the photos, best wishes to Herrn Kressmann! BTW, I have the same photo (DKiG to Kressmann). The backside writing says "<i>Verleihung des Deutschen Kreuzes in Gold im Jan. 1944 in Witebsk an Oblt. Kressmann. / Rechts Oberarzt Dr. Bruns / Links Oberzahlmeister M&ouml;llers / Oberf&auml;hnrich Herz</i>".

Dr. G&uuml;nter Bruns (later Stabsarzt) received DKiS, as shown in the photo below.

Someone may wish to see the equipment they had: <i>Nashorn</i>, or Rhinoceros. Here's one, named "Tiger". The photo has interesting stamp on the backside, which is a stamp of <i>Panzer-Propaganda-Kompanie</i> 697.
