Hi,

indeed Panzer-Regiment 15 of 5. Panzer-Division.

Repair base of Panzer-Regiment 15. in Opatów, near Sandomierz (Sandomir), south-eastern Poland - most probably these are some of tanks from this regiment which were lost during the battle of Lwów and Rzęsna Ruska.

Two other pictures, unfortunately low quality, of those two Panzer II (+one Panzer IV near them) in Opatów exists, see below.

The burned building can be found on some other pictures (3rd picture, Panzer IV).

Here is the current location in Opatow.

In your picture, we can see part of one of the bell towers on the left side.

The main burned building seemed to have not been rebuilt since 1939 (to the contrary of the other buildings), it was located in the empty space near the current building of the Post Office.

I also found another picture showing the damaged Panzer IV before the two Panzer II were brought to Opatow.

Well '42' could mean '4th company' '2nd tank' but hard to codeify as the standard 3 digit system was not in use this early in the war.

Panzerregiment 15 during the Polish campaign has always a coloured line below the turret digits. I assume the colour depicts the company and the numbers are the platoon and the vehicle in the platoon. But this is only an assumption and cannot be proven with black and white photos.
