JG54 Frontflugspange doc

Hello,
I have seen this document of the JG54 signed by Gen. Karl Alfred Schumacher.
AFAIK he was never kommodore of the Grunherzgeschwader neither had connections with this unit.
I missed something?

What unit was Schumacher leading at that time? maybe they were doing joint operations with JG54

On that date, Schumacher was the Geschwaderkommodore of JG-1 as well as holding the position of Jagdfliegerführer Deutsche Bucht. At this time 3./JG-54 were based at Groningen.
