    Female SS Concentration Camp Auswies

I just picked up this female SS concentration camp ausweis and I wanted to share it with you because they are not often seen. I purchased it from a very good friend Bill Bradley. I know he will miss it, but I’m glad to have it. This is one of twelve known to exist. Unfortunately the photo is missing, even so a very nice item. Of the twelve five have photos and seven do not. This originally came from Emilie Caldwell Stewarts collection then to Bill and me for now.
    Thanks

    Hi Joe,
Never seen one before!!!! Is it possible to make a larger scan of the stamps where the photo was?

    Thanks, Ian

I originally brought that one and some 30 others back from an archive trip to Prague. Most had photos and the group covered 12 camps. Sold most as a lot to Steve Flood and paid my trip costs, they went to the winds. none were gurads, all office personnel, etc.

I kept the formal size award, promo and death documents for male personnel for myself and a stack of SS newspapers the archive was using to start fires in their coal stove !

Hi Ian, here is a close up of one of the more destinguishable stampings. Hi Mark, pertaining to your reponse I'm not sure I understand your referance, are you saying that this example is one of the 30 you brought back from Prauge? The word "Aufseherin" in German literally translated means "overseeer" . . these were in fact female guards or overseeers who were responsible for female inmates. I can't figure out how examples from 12 camps would end up in Czecheslovakia . . . there was only one camp of any note there, Theresienstadt and I don't think any of them are from that camp I just don't beleive there were 30 of them . . . even so, still extremely rare . .and this one definitely belonged to a female overseer, not an administratiove employee.
        Cordially Yours

The Vojensky institute considered them scrap, among a ton of other material that included Pionier IC and wound badge award documents for an Army unit in the 1940 western campaign, Heerespersonalamt issued Army promotion documents from 1942 (various units), 1 Oct 1938 award documents for men assigned to Dachau dated 1939, and other material. The area was a deposit center for the SS-FHA and other aggencies. Oddities in their retained collection included all congratulations letters for several SS KC hholders, none of whom were ever near Prague.

I never noted the blanks as being gurads, just those with photos being female filers, messengers, secretary personnel, etc. All were, oddly enough, from their photos very attractive. The cards for each camp were a different color. As a Waffen-SS combat unit and SS/VT researcher/writer, and not a collector per se, were far out of my interest area.
