      thanks but ..........

      Hello Eric,

Thanks my friend => but now you create some new questions inside my head , such as : was this sign also used by the KG 51 ( a certain small unit for example ? ) or do we see here a person who transferred from the KG " Legion Condor " into the KG " Edelweiss " and loved his old emblem so much that it was painted besides the new one ( Edelweiss ) .

I tend to believe the first way => a certain Gruppe or something similar from the KG 51 , any opinions on this one or does there exist a website where one can check LW emblems ?

      Cordial Greetings,

ps :Eric I did not know that you where a German WWII vet.

        KG

David, the Ju 88 carried the code 5K, belonged to the KG 3 "Blitz".
The III/KG 3 was formed by II/KG 51 in january 1944, so, the Gruppe inherited the "Edelweiss" from KG 51.
I do not have references form the other emblem, in spite of that in my hands there are more than 800 emblem from Luftwaffe units.
Can you send me a better photo of the plane?
        Regards
        Roberto

            Hi guys,

There seems to be a lot of confusion here:

            1) This is definitely a KG 51 plane; it is coded 9K and not 5K.
            2) The insignia is that of the veterans of Legion Condor who continued their carrier on Ju 88. At KG 51, this insignia was used by Hptm. Helmuth Fuhrhopp (Staffelkapitän of 2./KG 51 and K.C.-holder) on his personal plane.

            Regards

            Peter

                    Hello,

Thanks for the additional pictures versus link , it is always nice to see such good information => the bad thing however is that the additional sign is not identifyed yet ? , i agree with Tommy that it is probably a Staffel sign or a personal sign of one off the pilots mayby ?
