I knew this GI, got a great helmet from him. This is his portrait in a German civilian home. What is interesting is the German soldiers photos on the shelf behind him. Also, what is the design on the floor vase? Is it runes or just a design?

GI's took over homes and apartments for quarters as they moved from Town to Town in Germany so much was left in place when the German families were told to leave and I'm sure they were also searched for sovenirs....you see this in movies like Band of Brothers.

On the other hand, at least one forgetful GI actually left behind a souvenir when he was billeted in my great-grandparents' house. Thanks, PFC Henry!
